When my daughter (Courtney, as it happens) was about 12 or so, I was driving home. A squirrel darted in front of the car and - yes, I hit it. I'm an animal lover and to say I was upset doesn't begin to describe how I felt. Courtney tried to make me feel better: "No, Mom, I saw him run away. You just stunned him - that's all!"
I laughed entirely too long and too loud at that text exchange. And I have rescue pets, a squirrel feeder and I'll throat punch anyone I find abusing an animal.
I hit a bunny once when I was a teenager. I cried. Now I'm a mom... and that shits funny :)
